New communicator on the market

Sunday, 14 July 2002 - The FCC leaked pictures of the new Handspring Treo Communicator. After the Treo 180 and 270 for the European and Asian GSM markt, this is Handspring's attempt to recover the US market with a CDMA model.

The launch of integrated PDA and phones is important for the Information Society, since there can not be a true Information Society without mobile data communication. Although popular, the SMS (short message service) on GSM phones is too primitive for real data communication. For those who committed to high investments in GPRS networks it is good news to see companies investing in the learning curve of the general public to carry around sophisticated communications devices..
